Act 3: Storyboard (not yet final draft)
COVID-19. If I haven’t updated this page lately, you’ll be somewhere very remote (please tell me where) if you don’t know how Coronavirus changed the world and affected your whole way of life in 2020 and beyond (and the retail price of one particular lager brand).
On a less facetious note, the global pandemic had a direct effect upon my alternative career (as mentioned in Act 2). As in, no more regular job, zero income, no immediate job prospects. No qualifying status for government support. No furlough. Nothing. 2020 resulted in a year of reflection and dedicated fatherhood (some golden moments).
A morsel of hope as winter finally approached: some contract work arising, generating concepts, scripts and films, and recording voiceovers, among other things that exploited my range of creative and business leadership capabilities.
I had a notion at the beginning of 2020 to return to and focus upon my original vocation. Applying to agents for new representation just after the first lockdown took effect did not go well. 1 of 28 agents replied to my written submission. Timing is everything.
Nevertheless, as the pandemic challenges prevail in 2021, I remain resolute. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
The next chapters of my life storyboard are in draft: the opening scene shows a man with a piece of treasure, which needs to be bestowed upon an unwitting hero, and she is undecided.
What would you write next…?
Thanks for making it to the end of Act 3.
Let’s see how things play out.
